Sign the pledge and stand with in solidarity with Everytown for Gun Safety to end open carry and stop the culture of hate-fueled gun violence.
On August 12, 2017, hundreds of white supremacist protesters descended upon Charlottesville, Virginia, and marched through the city with a militia that was openly carrying assault rifles and other weapons. A loophole in the laws of many states allows people to openly carry guns in public without a permit, training, or so much as a background check. Many hate groups rationalize their decision to bring a militia is protected by the First and Second Amendments, but let’s not be fooled. Those that came to Charlottesville openly carrying firearms were not conveying a nonviolent political message, engaged in self-defense, or protecting hearth and home.
